How to change file type association for .ISO, .PDF and others

Issue: Double clicking on a file at times opens your file in a different program.

If this is the issue, then it can be solved very easily in Windows Vista and Windows 7.  Follow below steps to make a file type always open in a specific program:

Step 1: Click on Start menu –> Control Panel

Step 2: Find Default Programs from the list of settings and double click on it.

Step 3: Click on Associate a file type or protocol with a program.

Note: Population of extension list may take time depending on processor speed.

Step 4: Select your extension from the list.  For Ex: .PDF, .ISO, etc…

Step 5: Single click on the extension name as displayed in image below and click on Change Program

Step 6: Clicking on Change Program prompts below screen.  Select the application where you would like the file to open by default and click on OK
